Poker Tricks: Hold'em online
by MarkMiller
Sometimes, a poker player needs to be a good liar. Hence, a cleverly staged trick in a particular moment can be just the right way to win pots.
Wouldn't you become uncertain as well? But make sure not to get caught with the bluff and don't play it too often. From time to time it is a good move, but used too often it looses its effect, and your opponents will only be eager to lure you into the trap.
The Slowplaying
And if your opponents bet, you first play along with them and strike a bit later. The other players will be confused what's going on and may even call your bet. That way you can assure a much bigger pot than if you had shown strength right from the beginning.

The Bluff
Speaking of traps. The opposite of a bluff is the slowplaying. You want to make a trap for your opponents by pretending to have a bad hand. This is how it works: you suddenly have an outstanding hand, and you are convinced that you will beat any other player.
